My Credit Card Reward Points

Rexcel’s analysis of her credit card reward points in the Philippines.

Which one of my credit cards in the Philippines returns the most Reward Points? This is a question I was curious to answer. Here is my report.

I will update this page once a month, every month. So bookmark this page, if you are also interested in such data.

Fee Waiver Rewards Point Comparison

Rank: 2

The RCBC Classic Mastercard’s annual fee is ₱1,500. The Rewards Points you need to get an Annual Fee Waiver for this card is 4,000 points. The total amount you need to spend with your RCBC Classic MC credit card to earn enough Reward Points to get this reward is approximately:

Annually: ₱245,200
Monthly: ₱20,450

I have the highest credit limit with this card, so it is not something I will likely let go despite the low Reward Points I can earn with this card. At least it is not yet the worst of the lot.

BDO Unibank Inc

Visa Classic

BDO Visa Classic

The BDO Classic Visa’s annual fee is ₱1,500. The Rewards Points you need to get an Annual Fee Waiver for this card is 3,300 points. The total amount you need to spend with your BDO Classic Visa credit card to earn enough Reward Points to get this reward is approximately:

Annually: ₱174,300
Monthly: ₱14,550

Among my credit cards, this is the card that returns the most value of reward points for every Piso I spend.

Definitely keeping this card until something better comes along!

East West Bank

Fee Waiver Rewards Point Comparison

Rank: 3

The EWBC Classic Mastercard’s annual fee is ₱1,500. The Rewards Points you need to get an Annual Fee Waiver for this card is 4,545 points. The total amount you need to spend with your EWBC Mastercard credit card to earn enough Reward Points to get this reward is approximately:

Annually: ₱497,500
Monthly: ₱41,500

Among my credit cards, this is the worst credit card.

For now I will use it, but only for small item purchases and sparingly, because there are no annual fees for me to pay for the first year.

Definitely cancelling this card after the 1 year is over though.

I had one other credit card — my first credit card — from Security Bank Corporation, since October 2018. It was a Secured credit card because I have no employment history. So when I got the 2 new credit cards from BDO and EWBC last September (see above), I cancelled and returned the SBC Classic MC to the bank. Below is the Rewards Points data I have on that card.

It’s the best for the Rewards Points you can earn with this card but worst for its really HORRIBLE customer support.

You can see Security Bank clients and customers rant on social media about their legendary terrible service.

For example, they never replied to any email I sent them for much of 2019. But this post is not about them, so I will stop saying more about that here.
